New Delhi: India recorded 2,38,018 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 94.09 per cent accounted for 1,57,421 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,53,94,882. The daily positivity rate stood at 14.43 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 17,36,628 accounting for 4.62 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 80,287 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.29 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 310 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,86,761.
Omicron variant cases tally rose to 8,891 the Union Health Ministry said today morning. 11 states have registered a weekly positivity rate higher than that of the national average (15.2 per cent), which has drawn concerns by the centre. Goa underway polls next month tops tge list with 36.1 per cent followed by West Bengal 31.5 per cent, indicating that one in three people are testing positive in these states.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in coalition with the COVID TASK FORCE, AIIMS and ICMR issued revised guidelines categorizing COVID-19 infection in adults to three categories. It illustrated that if cough persisted for more than 3 weeks in a mildly infected individual, then he/she needs to undergo tests to rule out other conditions. While patients presenting moderate to severe disease are advised hospital admission and treatment as per revised criteria.
