Met Department issues 5-day Yellow Alert

New Delhi: The IMD in a fresh notice has predicted heatwave like conditions in large parts of the country for five days. “Rise by about 2 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures very likely over most parts of Northwest India during next three days and fall by about 2 degrees Celsius thereafter- the notice read.

The warnings come as parts of Orissa, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan and Delhi recorded temperatures above 45 degrees celsius. In parts of Central India, the temperature soared beyond 45 degrees celsius. While the national capital today woke up to a warmer morning. Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 30th and over Assam-Meghalaya during 30th April-02nd May- the met govt of India further forecast. Parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on 30th April, are likely to witness a dust storm.

Northwest region of India this year recorded hottest in March in 122 years, with an avergae temperature going beyond 30.67 degrees celsius in 2004. The summer holidays for schools have started earlier due to the severe heat.
