45,352 Infections Logged; Kerala Continues to Report Surge

New Delhi: India reported 45, 352 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.45 per cent accounted for 34,791 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,20,63,616. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.72 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 3,99,778 accounting for 1.22  per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 10,195 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 366 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,39,895.

Kerala continues to record a surge while Maharashtra the worst-hit state reported a slight dip in its infected count. The National capital for the first time recorded zero deaths for the second consecutive day on Thursday, since the inception of the pandemic.

So far the Ministry of Health has administered 67 crore COVID-19 vaccinations to the citizens. On Thursday, nearly 78.84 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated under the national vaccination drive.

According to WHO, 218,205,951 confirmed cases were reported globally to the top world health body, including 4,526,583 deaths worldwide. As of 31st August, nations across the world vaccinated 5,289,724,918 beneficiaries under their vaccination drive.
