5,735 Omicron Infections Out of 2.64 Lakh Fresh Cases
- Daily positivity rate rose to 14.78 per cent.
- Active cases stood at 12,72,073.
- Over 155.39 crore beneficiaries immunized cumulatively.
New Delhi: India recorded 2,64,202 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 95.20 per cent accounted for 1,09,345 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,48,24,706. The daily positivity rate stood at 14.78 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 12,72,073 accounting for 3.48 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 1,54,542 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 315 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,85,350.
The Omicron variant tally rose to 5,735 the Union Health Ministry said today morning.
The National capital saw the biggest-ever daily spike in Covid infections Thursday with 28,867 new Covid cases as the positivity rate surged to 29 per cent. In a virtual interaction with the CMs of all states PM Modi on Thursday underscored the importance of vaccination to strive through the pandemic. He also warned citizens from dropping their guards against the virus.
The health bulletin documented 155.39 crore cumulative vaccinations under the nationwide vaccination drive, including 73.08 lakh administrations in the past 24 hours.
