Khanjawale Case: Accused Sent into 3 Judicial Custody; Medical board to Conduct Autopsy

NEW DELHI: 5 accused have been arrested in connection to the Kanjhwala accident where a woman was dragged for nearly 12 km by a car. The Delhi court remanded the 5 accused of homicide into 3 days of police custody.

The Police interacting with the media asserted to investigate the matter thoroughly. Addressing a press conference here, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda said that the crime scene would be recreated and the timeline will be established based on the CCTV footage extracted. He concluded that fresh charges would be added against the accused based on the post-mortem report of the woman. “The forensic examination of the vehicle is also being done,” the officer added.

According to sources, 3 membered medical board shall be formed to conduct an autopsy. The FSL team that visited the area in the early hours on Sunday, didn’t find any blood stains inside the car or in its seats. The team only found blood on the tire suspecting the girl was not inside the car.

Protests erupted outside the Sultanpuri PS in Delhi. The protesters blocked traffic, demanding punishment for the men who dragged 20-year-old Anjali in the wee hours of January 1. They allege that police are treating the incident as an accident case. The woman’s family also suspects foul play and refuses to term it an accident.

A video purportedly showing the woman’s body without clothes and broken legs has surfaced on social media, leading to suspicion that she had been sexually assaulted and murdered.
