New Delhi: Boost for Farmers says Nirmala Sitharaman addressing the parliament during its Budget Session today. Presenting the Budget, Ms Sitharaman began the session, expressing empathy to those who succumbed to COVID-19.
Discussing the key elements of the Budget 2022, the Finance Minister said, “ We strive to provide the necessary ecosystem for the middle class. This Budget hopes to lay the foundation of Amrit Kal from India at 75to India at 100.”
Underscoring the efforts put forth by the centre towards the wellbeing of the farmers, it was stated that natural farming will be promoted across the banks of the Ganges River. Hinting towards the benefit of the farmers, it was revealed that 1,000 LMT Paddy is expected to be procured.
Adding to the incorporation of technology in farming, Ms Sitharaman announced the use of Kisan Drones for crop assessments, land records, spraying of insecticides. Besides, implementation of the Ken-Betwa link worth Rs 44,605 crore is also proposed. This will be providing irrigation to over 9 lakh hectares of farmers land improving livelihood facilities to farmers and the local population. Promoting natural farming, the centre announced a comprehensive package for the participation of state governments and MSMEs.
Amongst the other key announcements of the session included the introduction of a digital rupee using blockchain and other technology by RBI. Developments in sectors like Railways, Women Employment and growth and Tax sectors were also made.
