Bengaluru: Section-144 was imposed at Surathkal, Mulki, Bajpe and Panambur until July 30th after chaos spurted on the murder of a 23-year-old Muslim man on Thursday evening. All wine shops under the commissioner’s limit have been instructed to be closed until 29th July. Checkpoints in Karnataka and Kerala border is set up for vehicle searches moving in and out of the state.
“We have requested all Muslim leaders to perform their prayers at their homes, in the larger interest of the law and order of every locality. Due justice will be done quickly and fairly,” said Mangaluru Police Commissioner, N Shashi Kumar citing fear of protests.
As per police reports, Fazil was attacked by unidentified men wielding lethal weapons near Krishanpura Katipalla road Surathkal. CCTV footage reveals the man was talking to an acquaintance when the assailants stepped out of the car and ran towards him. The faces of the assailants are covered with black cloth masks while they stabbed the man outside a clothing store. The boy after being repeatedly stabbed fell and was still being attacked, police officials said on seeing the footage.
The reason for the attack is unknown they said adding that the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
