Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, who had been arrested after they were questioned in the aftermath of Saturday night’s raid on a cruise ship off Mumbai coast, were sent to additional NCB custody till October 7. On Monday, the defendants appeared in court. NCB had requested that Aryan be held in custody until October 11th. According to NCB, Aryan’s phone had “shocking, incriminating evidence.”

Aryan’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, had previously stated that no substance confiscated from his client was in violation of the NDPS Act. “If any substance is recovered from any other person (co-accused), that does not constitute a basis for detaining my client,” he stated.

The NCB had previously stated that there was evidence against the three in the form of WhatsApp communications, purportedly ‘showing connection with peddlers and suppliers on a regular basis.’ The three have been charged with possession, consumption, and sale of prohibited narcotics under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). In addition to Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, and Munmun Dhamecha, five more people have been arrested: Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker, and Gomit Chopra.
