Jakarta: It was tough outcome for India despite playing a 4-4 draw against South Korea in the final Super 4 clash at the Asia Cup 2022 in Indonesia on Tuesday. The result saw Korea advance to the finals due to a superior goal difference and they will lock horns with Malaysia in the summit clash.

India, on the other hand, will take on Japan for a third-place match. Both the teams displayed excellent grit throughout the contest. Nilam Sanjeep helped India break the deadlock in the first quarter, scoring a penalty corner in the 8th minute. Korea then responded with two goals before Maninder Singh found the equaliser in the 20th minute.

Sheshe Gowda then gave India the advantage in the next minute but an excellent strike by Kim Junghoo in the 27th minute brought Korea back on level terms. The third quarter saw India once again take the advantage as Mareeswaran Shakthivel scored the fourth goal for India.

However, an excellent passed followed by an equally good finish by Jung Manjae helped Korea find the equaliser right at the end of the third quarter. India then resorted to complete attack, while Korea crowded their half with almost all the players as no goals were scored in the final quarter.
