Bajrang Punia in Semi-Finals; India’s Maiden Medal in Golf Awaited

Sports: Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia won his quarterfinal bout against Morteza Ghiasi of Iran in the men’s freestyle wrestling 65 kg category. After a hard-fought battle, Bajrang Punia will now take on Haji Aliyev of Azerbaijan in the semi-finals.

Indian women’s hockey team went down fighting 3-4 against Great Britain in the bronze medal match. The players fought valiantly till the end, but missed a historic bronze medal.

Indian Golfer Aditi Ashok carded a three-under 67 in the third hold on the second position and remains a strong contender for country’s maiden Olympic medal in Golf. Aditi fired birdies and two bogeys today.

In athletics, Priyanka Goswami finished 10th and Bhawna Jat finished 33rd in the 20 km race walk. Gurpreet Singh will begin action in the 50 km race walk soon. Later in the day, Indian Men’s Team will compete in the 4x400m Relay. The team consists of Amoj Jacob, Rajiv Arokia, Pandi Naganathan, Nirmal Tom Noah and Anas Muhammed Yahiya.
