BJP Leading in Majority States Underway Poll Counting

New Delhi: With the vote counting underway, trends go for a toss every minute. Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Admi Party has managed a landslide sweep in Punjab while the BJP has managed to buck the trend in Uttar Pradesh, where it was battling a stiff fight from Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party. The BJP is also ahead in Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand.

As per the leads in Punjab, AAP races with most of its candidates ahead in seats considered to be stronghold of the Congress party. Both the Congress’s stalwarts in Punjab – Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and state unit boss Navjot Singh Sidhu – were trailing, as counting of votes entered the third hour on Thursday. Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister, trailing in his constituency of Patiala Urban seat.

In the Yogi Adityanath region, heading for a big win, the saffron party seems to have successfully tackled the anti-incumbency and is appeared to win over 250 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress are neck to neck. Among those leading included Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav from Karhal.

The BJP is set to be the first party to get a consecutive second term in more than three decades in Uttar Pradesh. The state, with 80 parliamentary seats, holds the key to power at the Centre.

The Priyanka Gandhi led party seems to be trailing in the hill state Uttarakhand , whereas BJP as per the trends at 10:30 am captured 44 seats .
