Maharashtra: In a fast paced development of the wrecked boat found in Raigarh, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said the boat carrying three AK-47s belongs to an Australian couple who abandoned it after engine trouble on June 26. Prima facie, there is no terror angle, but it is unclear why it was carrying arms, he added pressing reporters on the discovery.

A damaged boat was found near Harihareshwar Beach in Raigad, 190 km from Mumbai, by fishermen. Three AK-47 rifles, bullets and documents were found on it. Primary investigations revealed, the boat, called Lady Han, is owned by Hana Laundergun, an Australian citizen.

Anti terror squad is engaged to probe the discovery. Coast Guard officials have also been asked to stay alert. Meanwhile, security in Raigarh has been tightened and any suspicious movements have been ordered to be brought to the notice of officials immediately.

The discovery has sparked fear in the district ahead of the festive season.
