The Indian cinema is set to get its first werewolf story with ‘Bhediya’ starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in the lead with Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles. The film is set against the backdrop of the mesmerising forests of Arunachal Pradesh. It tells the story of Bhaskar, a man who gets bitten by a mythical wolf and begins to transform into the creature himself. As Bhaskar and his ragtag buddies try to find answers, a bunch of twists turns and laughs ensue.
In the trailer the makers shared on Wednesday, the story starts with a long shot of a town somewhere in Himachal Pradesh shifting to a scene where Varun Dhawan is sleeping. The trailer features the transformation of Varun into a werewolf which concludes with the title remix of the famous animated Jungle Book, “Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai”.
The horror-comedy Bhediya is produced by Dinesh Vijan, who earlier made Stree and Roohi. The film revolves around the theme of ‘Save the forests’ and will release in cinemas pan-India in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in 2D and 3D. Varun and Kriti share the screen for the second time since 2015 after Dilwale. The film also brings dynamic duo Dinesh and director Amar Kaushik who helmed ‘Stree’.
