India: Post cancellation of CBSE Board exams for Class 12th, comments surfaced on how the board would assess a student’s performance in order to promote them. The CBSE committee will submit its reports on June 18 encompassing the criteria of scoring.
As per sources, the panel members have finalized on giving weightage to the students based on their Class 10 and Class 11 scores, besides pre-board and internal exams for Class 12.
Meanwhile, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) is expected to declare its Class 12 exam results by July 20. The students will be assessed based on the internal marks for class 11 and 12. The board has also decided to consider the best performances from 2015 to 2020.
Citing the uncertainties prevailing , the centre on June 1 had cancelled CBSE Board Class 12 exams.
The Supreme court appreciated the centre’s decision but desired a report on evaluation criteria. CBSE, in its statement, sought two weeks for framing its principles while CISCE wanted four weeks. However, the apex court denied such a long duration stating it would affect further plans of students pursuing foreign admissions.
