London: The British drug regulators on Wednesday approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for kids between 5-11, as the country reported 100,000 infections in a single day since the Omicron spread.  The approval stems from the govt’s decision to cut off the isolation period. Britain Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said it has a brand-new formula of the Pfizer-BioNTech shot which could be safely administered to children above 5 years. Chief Executive June Raine added that there was “robust evidence to support a positive benefit for children in this age group.” The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization pressed on a primary course of the vaccination to be offered to some within the age group.

Britain announced to boost up its vaccination program rather than imposing lockdown across the country. Since the new variant has spread, cities have been reporting overwhelming hospitalization.

On Wednesday, the country surpassed 30 million booster doses administered as it aims to offer additional jabs to all adults before the end of the year.
