CM Baghel Launches Millet Mission
- CM Baghel launched the Millet Mission program at his office residence today.
- Chief Minister along with collector of Surajpur, Korea and Jashpur signed the MoU with IIMR Hyderabad.
- 14 districts to be benefitted by the program.
Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh CM Baghel at his residence office today launched the Millet Mission program in the 14 districts of the state in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Millet Research Hyderabad.
CM Baghel and the collectors of Surajpur, Korea and Jashpur signed an MoU with the IIMR. Under the MoU, the Millet Research Institute would provide support and guidance for increasing the productivity of Kodo, Kutki, Ragi. Apart from this, the farmers would be trained through the Krishi Vigyan Kendra for spreading the scientific technology developed at the national level.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Baghel delineated the importance of the minor cereal crops. He also informed that the state would procure the millets from the framers at a minimum support price. The Millet Mission is expected to provide financial backing to the farmers of the state and leverage Chhattisgarh national recognition.
On this occasion, Forest and Climate Change Minister Mohammad Akbar, Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrata Sahu, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr M. Geeta, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Federation Managing Director Sanjay Shukla, Industries Department Secretary, Ashish Bhatt, and Director Industries Anil Tuteja were present. Director of Indian Institute of Millet Research Dr Vilas A. Tonapi and Chief Scientist Dr Dayakar Rao and Collectors of 14 districts joined the program virtually.
