Raipur: Chhattisgarh colleges will be closed again due to a spike in COVID positivity rates. However, this time the rules will be slightly tweaked and would be applicable to only a few areas and not the entire state. An announcement from CM Bhupesh Baghel’s office that schools will be closed in districts with a positivity rate of 4% or more. On the other hand, Swami Vivekananda Technical University has decided to take the online examination. After which the demand for online examinations has started rising again.

The practical examination of the 10th and 12th boards of the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education is starting from today. In the examination being conducted offline mode, students will have to follow the Corona guidelines. In these, entry will not be given if students have symptoms of cold and cough. The practical exam will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift exam will be held from 8 am to 11 am. The second shift examinations will run from 2 pm to 5 pm in the afternoon.

However, with Omicron cases knocking on the door and affecting the COVID cases tally, Chhattisgarh has also decided to order the closure of schools, but only in districts where the positivity rate is at an alarming 4% or more. CM Baghel had already mentioned a few days back that a complete lockdown is highly unlikely and only a last resort. Till then, restrictions would be placed to control the spread. Chhattisgarh joins the list of states that have imposed lockdown-like restrictions due to a fear of Omicron. Even though COVID-19 vaccination has begun for children in the age group of 15-18, they are still prone to infections as full vaccination will take some time.
