Congress to Kick Start Digital Membership Campaign in MP
- Congress to take in loyal members through digital membership campaign.
- The campaign would be run under chief enroller at state level.
- The Congress aims to gain power in the 2023 state assembly polls.
Bhopal: The Congress unit in Madhya Pradesh announced to initiate a digital membership campaign aiming at large scale public connectivity. The party would appoint a chief enroller and an enroller at the district, block and booth levels to scrutinize the authenticity of the members enrolling. The ‘digital membership’ will be different from the opposition’s ‘missed call’ campaign, an insider claimed.
Former CM, Kamal Nath stated that the party had registered several fake members in recent years which caused huge losses to the party. “Now, a digital membership system has been started. In this system, everything will be clear and transparent and therefore, there will be no case of fake membership,” Nath said. The Congress membership in-charge K Raju is scheduled to visit Bhopal to chalk out the blueprint for this digital membership drive.
The state is to undergo polls in December 2023. In the last elections that took place in 2018, though Congress ousted BJP, it later collapsed as many disgruntled legislators moved to BJP. The saffron party had won 109 seats while the Congress contemplated 114. In attempts to regain its power, Congress started the ‘Ghar Chalo Ghar-Ghar Chalo’ campaign targeting the SS Chauhan led govt on various prospects. Under this campaign, party members are tasked to reach the maximum possible homes and initiate direct contact.
