- In India, 2573 new cases and 83 deaths reported in last 24 hours

Total coronavirus cases in India are nearing 43,000-mark even as the COVID-19 lockdown 3.0 has started from today. In India, so far there are 29,453 active cases. As many as 11,706 COVID-19 positive have been cured or discharged. Presently, 1373 coronavirus positive patients have died and one has been migrated, as per the details shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The lockdown extension has come with several relaxations. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs mentioned that state governments can lessen the number of activities permitted by the Centre in Red Zone, and Orange Zones considering the prevalent situations in those areas.
In daily health briefing by MOHFW, joint secretary Luv Agarwal stated that the total number of corona cases rose to 42,533 in the country, of which 29,453 are active cases. In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 2,553 positive cases. The joint secretary also added that 11,706 people have been cured so far. while 1074 people have been cured in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number in terms of cured patients noted till date. The recovery rate is now 27.52% in India.
MHA secretary Punya Salila Srivastava told that home ministry has instructed all states to ensure that there are no issues in interstate cargo movement. Apart from this she also told that In Lockdown-3, the country is divided into three zones. All 3 zones of the country have been exempted with some essential services. But there are strict restrictions in any type of activity in the Containment Zone.
Amitabh Kant, the chairman of the sixth Empowered Group, brief about the Aarogya setu app to media persons, in which he told that the government’s contact tracing app Aarogya Setu has been downloaded in 90 million smartphones across the country. Further, he added that government has mandated the necessary installation of the app in the third phase of the government’s lockdown, which kicked into effect earlier in the day and is slated to go on till May 17.
Aarogya Setu is a mobile application developed by the Government of India to connect essential health services with the people of India in our combined fight against COVID-19.
