Corona effect: CGBSE postpones the board exams of class 10th; order issued

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education has postponed the board exams of class 10th examination starting from April 15. The decision was taken in the wake of growing COVID-19 cases in the state.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted about the same. In the tweet, he said “Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education, Raipur has postponed the board exams starting from 15 April 2021 for class 10th, keeping in mind the growing cases of Coronavirus in the state and lockdown in many districts.”

Starting from 15 April, the exam was scheduled to last till 1 May. The board has now postponed it and issued an order for the same.

In the wake of coronavirus, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, earlier has asked to increase the dates of 10th and 12th board exams. However, the School Education Department has issued an order to postpone the 10th exam.

In the order, School Education Secretary VK Goyal said that at present, excessive cases of corona are coming up every day in the state. Due to which lockdown has been done in many districts. Keeping this in mind, the Class 10 examination is postponed. The upcoming decision will be taken on time.

Chief Minister expressed concern

The Chief Minister, while discussing with the editors today, said that “the rising figures of Corona is worrisome. It is being considered that the student should not get infected. I have spoken to the Minister of School Education in this subject. During this time, the date of the examination is said to be extended.”

Raipur declared a complete lockdown for 10 days in Raipur from today evening. The state reported 10,652 cases in the past 24 hours taking the overall count to 4,07,231. The state health bulletin observed 94 deaths across the district.
