Corona Update: Delhi goes under curfew from tonight for 6 days amid the exponential rise in Covid-19 cases

New Delhi: In the wake of rising cases of coronavirus, Delhi government has announced a one-week long curfew from tonight (April 19) till next Monday morning to curb the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 cases in the national capital.

“I always say all of Delhi is like a family. Even now we will face it together. We have won earlier, we will win again,” Kejriwal said in a press conference. The chief minister said that there was indeed a shortage of oxygen and medicines like Remdesivir. “Delhi’s health system is stretched,” he said.

Kejriwal further appealed to migrant workers, “This is a small lockdown, don’t leave Delhi.”

Delhi on Sunday recorded the biggest jump in its daily COVID-19 tally with 25,462 fresh cases, while the positivity rate shot up to 29.74 per cent — meaning almost every third sample being tested in the city is turning out to be positive.

Meanwhile, In view of an exponential rise in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi High Court on Monday ordered district courts to take up only urgent matters and that too through video conferencing.
