Corona Update: India records 87,000 cases in 24 hours; Tally crosses the mark of 40 lakh

This is the third successive day when the nation has recorded more than 80,000 cases in a solitary day.India is just an indent away from surpassing Brazil as the second worst affected country.

India witnessed 1,089 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the nation’s fatality count at present stands at 69,561, according to Heath bulletin. While 31,07,223 patients have recovered, 8,46,395 cases are still “active”. India reported its first case of COVID-19 on January 30.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh account for 70 per cent of the total COVID-19 deaths in the country, according to the Union Health Ministry.
