Corona Update: India Registers a drop in the Total Caseload with 1,60,694 ; Delhi Presents Three-Fold Increase in Oxygen Demand

The country recorded a fall on the seventh day after experiencing huge spikes. However, the reduced count isn’t a result of COVID freedom rather a delay of test results. Around 1,60,694 cases were reported by the Union health ministry in the past 24 hours. As per the In-patient data submitted nearly 97 thousand individuals were treated for the virus. 880 deaths were reported by MoHFW in a single, this took the death toll to 1,71,089. Maharashtra reported a reduction in its caseload. However, the state government is likely to announce a complete lockdown this week.
Following Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi continued to report resurgence.
Delhi recorded its highest spike with 11,491 cases and 71 deaths. a three-fold increase in demand for oxygen cylinders and concentrators among the 17,000 people in home isolation across the national capital is observed. The Delhi government on Monday said 14 private hospitals in the city have been made “full COVID-19” hospitals and asked them not to admit patients other than those infected with coronavirus. Nineteen private hospitals have been directed to reserve at least 80 per cent of their intensive care unit (ICU) beds for Covid treatment.
On Day 2 of Tika Utsav, more than 37.63 lakh vaccine doses were administered. So far, more than 10.82 Cr citizens are shielded across the country. Out of which 32,60,713 beneficiaries were vaccinated for 1st dose and 5,03,145 beneficiaries received 2nd dose of the vaccine.
