Corona Update: Spike in Cases Continues; Centre To Roll Out Second Phase Of Vaccines From 1st March

New Delhi: India presents a rise in its caseload trajectory after the arrival of the mutant strains. As per the tally by MOHFW, 16,924 infectious cases are reported in the past 24 hours. With this, the cumulative count of the nation stands at 1,10,46,470.

Statistics present active cases at 1,48,611. Combating the disease 12,094 infected individuals discharged after hospitalization. As per the Ministry of Health, the total count of recovered individuals is 1,07,36,550. With the infection swelling up across the country; the death toll has crossed hundred registering 141 deaths, spurting the death toll to1,56,742.

Maharashtra continues to record a spike in its fresh cases. In a single day, the state recorded a significant rise by 8,807 coronavirus cases contributing majorly to the country’s rising graph. Since February 10 the state has shown a sudden rise in infections.

It reported 59,358 active cases, with 80 fatalities. The number of recuperated individuals also dipped to 2,772  in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries now stand at 20,08,623. Kerala shows signs of betterment as the total number of cases registered in 1 day stands at 4,106 with a high recovery rate of 94.5%.

Delhi, stood next to compete in the list, reporting 200 fresh cases after a hiatus. The death toll of the capital also rose to 10,905 after a health bulletin issued a report stating 2 fatalities. 

With the rising infections, Union Health Minister Javadekar announced the initiation of the second phase of vaccination from March 1, prioritizing citizens above 60 and above 45 who present comorbidities. India has shielded 1,21,65,598 under its inoculation drive since the launch of the mega inoculation drive.
