Coronavirus: Covid-19 infected soar over 9000 in India, meanwhile Nagaland reports its first corona positive case.

INDIA: With 909 new cases reported in 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 patients in India rose past 9000 mark and the death toll reached 289. 716 patients have been cured so far, Ministry of Health said in its latest update.

According to the Health Ministry, 764 cases have recovered from the deadly illness as the government strives to maintain the supply of essential commodities in the third week of the lockdown. West Bengal became the sixth state after Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana to extend the coronavirus-induced lockdown till April 30.

With 1574 Covid-19 active cases, Maharashtra has registered the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country. The state has recorded 110 deaths so far while 188 patients have recovered. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases with whopping 911 infected people. Delhi stands at third position with 903 corona positive cases followed by Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya pradesh, Uttar Pradesh.

Chhattisgarh has registered 13 cases within the 24 hours, taking the covid-19 tally to 31 in the state.

Nagaland reports first coronavirus case

A private hospital in Dimapur, Nagaland referred a patient to GMCH after he was found with symptoms of COVID19. He has tested positive and is undergoing treatment.

on Sunday, India entered the 19th day of 21-days coronavirus lockdown which will end on April 14, if not extended. 

Globally, the death toll due to the coronavirus surpassed 108,865 and the number of infections have crossed 1.8 million. So far, over half a million people in the US have been infected by the novel coronavirus, and the death toll has surged past 20,000.
