Coronavirus Updates: Number of total recovered people takes over active cases in India

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare department, On Wednesday, India’s COVID-19 count surged past the grim milestone of 2.75-lakh cases, with 2,76,583 cases emerged across the states. On a brighter side, the number of people recovered from the disease has overtook the active cases in the country.

More than 7.2 million cases of the novel coronavirus have been confirmed worldwide, including at least 411,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. United States of America remains the worst hit country with the highest records of the novel coronavirus with 2045549 cases, out of it, 114148 are deaths and 788862 are recoveries.

The states continued to register nearly 10,000 cases, seventh day in a row. Maharashtra reported the highest number of fresh infections at 2,259 in last 24 hours. Tamil Nadu saw its biggest jump in COVID-19 count in a single day.

The recovery rates in India have outperformed several other countries. Currently, India is at 9th position in recovery count all over the world. Nearly 48% of total covid19 cases— nearly 1.35 lakh people — have recovered from the disease.

Maharashtra has 44384 active cases of the novel coronavirus. The state has reported 40975 discharged cases and 3169 deaths. Till now, the state has reported 88528 cases of coronavirus.

National Capital is now the third state to confirm 30,000 coronavirus cases after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.Delhi has 18,543 active cases whereas the state has recorded 11,861 cured cases and 905 deaths. Delhi has 31,309 cases altogether.

On Tuesday, Chhattisgarh reported 14 positive cases, taking the total tally to 1211. The active cases in the state reached to 859 and 347 people have recovered from the disease. Meanwhile, 5 people have succumbed to this virus.

Meanwhile, Numerous coronavirus vaccine development programmes are currently being run at a fast pace. Almost all the major institutions in the world are trying to collaborate to figure out the vaccination. Many vaccines are in trial phases but, no promising results are out yet.
