COVID-19 Vaccination Drive Resumes Today as Fresh Stocks Arrive
- BMC received 1.50 lakh Covishield and 10,240 doses of Covaxin on Friday
- The vaccination drive in Mumbai was stalled for the past two days as the state witnessed a shortage of dosages
- BMC issued a notice stating details of the vaccination drive that re-commenced today
Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday informed that the vaccination drive will resume today. The vaccination drive in the state had stalled on Thursday and Friday both at the govt and civic-run centres due to a shortage of doses. Earlier, also the state had paused its vaccination drive on July 8 and 9 after centres reported a shortage of vaccines.
As of Friday, the BMC received 1.50 lakh COVISHIELD and 10,240 doses of COVAXIN. The BMC issued a press note on Friday evening informing administration of COVID-19 vaccines from 9 am- 5pm in dedicated vaccination centres on Saturday. It also instructed the Mumbaikars to carry their first dose certificates whilst coming for the second dose. As per BMC’s notice the COVID vaccination Centre’s have divided the COVID-19 registration into two equal halves of on-spot registration and online registration.
The second dose of Covishield for the 18+ citizens is being administered at Medical College, Peripheral Hospitals, State Hospital, Jumbo Centres and other CVCs.
As per the data issued by the State Health Bulletin, on Friday, 322 positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded. With a recovery rate of 97%, the city reported 223 recuperations. So far, 7,19,381 beneficiaries have recovered since the inception of the pandemic. Currently, 2853 active cases have been registered.
As per MOHFW, Maharashtra being the worst hit state recorded 2124 active cases and 105 deaths. The overall vaccination count reached 5,19,04,037. Out of these 3,82,28,399 individuals were administered the first dose, while 1,36,75,638 received the second dose.
