The installation led to violent clashes with instances of stone-pelting and arson by an enraged mob, which resulted in the mosque being set ablaze, the Superintendent of Police (SP Neemuch) Suraj Kumar Verma confirmed. He added that four FIRs including one for desecrating the religious place, have been registered in this regard and around nine persons have been rounded up so far.

A large mob engaged in violence after the alleged attempt to install the idol. The police used tear gas and imposed lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. According to the police, the incident looks like a preplanned event, however, the cause is yet to be ascertained. A minor named Yonus Khan was reportedly injured in the stone-pelting incident.
