Delhi liquor policy case: Manish Sisodia Sent to ED Custody till March 17

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been sent to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate by a Delhi court till March 17 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam case. Rose Avenue Court in Delhi heard the former Deputy chief’s bail plea and reserved its order, posting the matter for hearing next on March 21st.

He was arrested once again after a second round of questioning that continued for 8 hours on Thursday. The arrest according to sources was sought on evidence that was recovered from Sisodia during the questioning. The Jail superintendent was informed and an arrest warrant was served under Section 19 PMLA. The ED has questioned Sisodia in connection with the alleged kickbacks of Rs 100 crore related to the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy.

Sisodia was arrested on Feb 26th and is currently lodged at Tihar Jail.

The case by CBI goes back to July last year when Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar submitted a report to the Lieutenant-Governor’s Office, alleging procedural lapses in the implementation of the policy and claiming that post-tender benefits were extended to the licensees.
