ED Grilled BRS Leader Kavitha for 9 Hours in Connection to Delhi Liquor ‘Scam’
NEW DELHI: The daughter of Telangana CM K Kavitha was seen departing from the ED office almost after nine hours today. According to sources, ED grilled the BRS leader in the Delhi Liquor policy case. She has been recalled on March 16th, the source added.
Kavitha termed the summons as “tactics of intimidation” by the Centre against KCR and the BRS, adding that the party will continue to fight and expose the Centre’s failures and will raise its voice for a brighter and better future for India.
The questioning came against the backdrop of ED’ claim that the policy was tweaked to help companies of the South Group. One such group according to ED is controlled by Kavitha, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, and Aurobindo Pharma’s P Sarat Chandra Reddy, among others – gave kickbacks of nearly Rs 100 crore to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders to gain control over the liquor business in Delhi. This huge sum was allegedly used by the AAP in the Goa Assembly elections. The federal agency had earlier arrested Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Ramachandra Pillai. On Saturday, ED officials reportedly questioned Kavitha and Arun Pillai together.
The BRS leader arrived at the ED office on Saturday morning at 11:15 am amidst heavy police protection. Kavitha’s husband D Anil Kumar had accompanied her to the ED’s office on Saturday morning. In a show of solidarity, many BRS supporters gathered in large numbers at the place where Kavitha was residing before Kavitha headed to the ED office.
