Extremely Heavy Rainfall to Lash over Chhattisgarh; IMD Issues Alert

Chhattisgarh: The IMD has issued an alert to the Central and the Western States of India. As per the forecast by the weather heads, a depression has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal  and adjoining Odisha coast on Sunday evening which intensified and crossed the Odisha coast as a deep depression close to Chandbali early Monday morning between 5:30 -6:30 am.

As per the notification issued by the Met Department, the deep depression is likely to move across North Odisha and Chhattisgarh and weaken gradually in the next 24 hours. Chhattisgarh and areas near the Konkan Coast, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Odisha have been informed of heavy rainfall for the coming five days commencing today.

A red alert has been issued in several regions of Chhattisgarh today. Nearly six districts of Bastar and Sarguja division have been issued an orange alert today. As per the forecast, South and central Chhattisgarh are expected to receive heavy rainfall.  Meanwhile, scattered to fairly widespread rains are likely to continue over Peninsular India for the next five days.
