Follow Five Fold Strategy: Centre to States Amidst Sudden Uptick in COVID Cases
NEW DELHI: In view of the rising number of COVID cases, the Union govt has issued an advisory to six states asking them to focus on controlling the sudden surge.
The Union health and family welfare ministry has written letters to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka to follow a five-fold strategy of test, track, treat and vaccinations.
There are few states which are reporting higher number of cases indicating possible localized spread of infection and there is a need to follow a risk assessment-based approach to prevent & contain the infection, without losing the gains made so far in the fight against the pandemic-the letter read.
The centre has directed states to maintain a strict watch and take preemptive action if required in any areas of concern to control the spread.
More than 700 fresh cases of COVID-19 have been reported after a hiatus of 4 months in India, taking the active caseload over 4,000. India had last on November 12 reported 734 cases.
