Former CM Kamal Nath Backs Symbolic Protest by Madhya Pradesh Police

Bhopal- Former Chief Minister and Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath has voiced his support for a symbolic protest organized by the state’s police force. The protest is in response to the transfer of an IPS officer and a police station in charge following a lathi-charge on Bajrang Dal activists in Indore last week.

Several police officers stationed in Indore have updated their social media statuses with a familiar tagline – “Khaki ka bhi to maan hai na” (the khaki also deserves respect). Sources within the police department have reported growing resentment among police personnel towards the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government, accusing it of biased actions.

In response to the incident, the BJP government initiated an ADG-level inquiry into the alleged protocol violation, resulting in the transfer of a senior IPS officer and the police station in charge involved.

As a sign of their discontent, police officers have launched a symbolic protest through their social media accounts.

The developments highlight the ongoing tension between the police force and the state government, with the former expressing their displeasure at what they perceive as unjust treatment. Kamal Nath’s support further emphasizes the issue’s political divide, as opposition parties align themselves with the police’s grievances against the ruling BJP administration.
