Gasping For Oxygen, Delhi Gets 140 MT Medical Oxygen From Haryana

- The patients were left gasping for breath due to the depleting supply of oxygen
- Delhi CM has sought help from Haryana CM to facilitate the transport of oxygen trucks from Haryana to Delhi
- In the last 24 hours, Delhi reported 249 deaths and 24,638 new Covid-19 cases
Delhi was running short of medical oxygen as the case of Covid-19 was surging. The patients were struggling due to a shortage of oxygen in the hospitals. Amid the reports of scarcity of medical oxygen, the Haryana Government allotted 140 metric tonnes(MT) of medical oxygen produced in Panipat to Delhi.
Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal sought help from the CM of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar to provide oxygen to the state. In a tweet, Kejriwal said, “I spoke to the CM of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar. Sought his support in facilitating the transport of oxygen trucks from Haryana to Delhi. He has assured full support”. Later, the CM of Haryana stated that the matter had been resolved. He said, “Two hundred and sixty MT oxygen production at Panipat in Haryana. 140 MT oxygen allotted to Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal rang me up today and the matter has been resolved”.
On Wednesday, the Centre has assured the Delhi High Court that the supply of oxygen will be done under security so that without any obstruction it can reach its destination as soon as possible. In the last 24 hours, Delhi reported 249 deaths and 24,638 new Covid-19 cases.
