Hit and Run Case in Delhi; IIT Student Dead; Friend Injured

DELHI: A hit-and-run case is reported from the National Capital where a 30-year-old Ph.D. student was killed and one injured after a car hit them near Gate Number 1 last night in South Delhi.

The incident took place at 11:15 pm when Ashraf Nawaz Khan (30) and Ankur Shukla (29), both Ph.D. students at IIT Delhi, were on their way back after having dinner at a restaurant in the SDA market.

Passerby’s immediately rushed both of them to the hospital where Ashraf was declared dead on arrival while Ankur suffered a fracture and is being provided medical assistance at the hospital in Saket.

The police sprang into action upon learning about the accident. The car was found abandoned in a damaged condition while the driver is absconding. A lookout notice has been issued and further investigation is underway.
