IAF aircraft Brings Bodies of Bus Passengers, Last Rites on June 7

Bhopal: Mortal remains of those who died after the bus carrying them fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand on Sunday reached Khajuraho Airport on Monday evening. State BJP president VD Sharma flew back to Bhopal in the IAF aircraft carrying bodies.

Talking to the media, Sharma said that the state government stood firm with bereaved families. He added that the state government was taking care of people who got injured in the accident.

In a media interaction, Panna district collector Sanjay Kumar Mishra said that around 25 bodies had arrived and 24 out of them were natives of Panna while one belonged to Chhatarpur.

It is learnt that an ambulance from Satna, Panna, and Chhaturpur carried the bodies of the deceased. The cremation is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

Around 25 passengers hailing from Panna District died when the bus on the religious trek of Char Dham Yatra dived into a 1,000 ft deep gorge. The MP administration has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of those who succumbed. and Rs 50,000 for those injured in Dehradun.

Earlier, the PM Narendra Modi too, while condoling the death of the Char Dham Yatra pilgrims, had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the PMNRF for the next of kin of all those who died, alongside Rs 50,000 for each of the injured.
