Software major Google has launched an online endeavour that tells the story of India while recording the milestones the country has reached in its 75-year journey after attaining its independence. Google Arts & Culture’s “India ki Udaan” project honours the nation’s accomplishments and it is “centred on the firm and enduring spirit of India over the previous 75 years”.
On Friday, it was formally introduced at a glittering event attended by senior representatives from the cultural ministry, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy and by senior officials of google at the Sunder Nursery in Delhi.
As part of the nationwide celebrations for India’s 75th anniversary of independence, Google also made an announcement about its collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. The two groups will cooperate to “provide educational internet content that highlights the contribution of Indians and the development of India.” since 1947 to support the government’s year-long ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme,” Google said in a statement.
Union minister G Kishan Reddy requested the Google team to develop a distinctive doodle on “Har Ghar Tiranga” that would encourage the company’s staff members and others to participate in the campaign with enthusiasm. He also mentioned in his remarks that Google might assist the ministry of culture in digitally mapping the limits of its more than 3,000 centrally protected monuments, which would aid in better monitoring the sites and preventing encroachment according to him, it can also aid in the digitization of rare archival material.
