India Records 38,164 cases; North-eastern Belt Arises as New Hotspot

New Delhi: India recorded 38,164 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. According to the trend, it is reported that North-eastern belt has emerged as the new hotspot of Covid-19 in India.

The recovery rate at 97.32 percent accounted for 38,660 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3, 03, 08,456. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.61 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 28 consecutive days.

The active caseload stands at 4, 21,665 accounting for 1.35 per cent of the total number of cases. 995 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported 499 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4, 14,108. 

As per the report released by health bulletin, zero deaths were observed in Delhi. However, 51 new cases were reported in the national capital. Several states in the North-eastern belt have been coerced to announce fresh curbs as the COVID Curve shows a drastic change with the advent of Delta Variant.

ICMR reported testing 14, 63,593 infected samples in the past 24 hours. So far ICMR has tested 44, 54, 22,256 samples since the outbreak.

Under the national vaccination drive, 13, 63,123 beneficiaries were immunized on Sunday. So far 40.64 beneficiaries have been vaccinated. According to a study conducted by researchers at ICMR, vaccines targeting COVID-19 are able to curb chances of death by 0.4 percent.
