India Records 42,625 cases ; 8 States Report Significant Rise in R-Factor

New Delhi: India recorded 42,625 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. Meanwhile, Eight states have shown a rise in the R-factor, the government said on Tuesday, calling it a “significant problem”.

The recovery rate at 97.37 per cent accounted for 36,668 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,09,33,022. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.31 per cent, less than 5 per cent.

The active caseload stands at 4,10,353 accounting for 1.29 per cent of the total number of cases. 5395 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 562 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,25,757. 

44 districts have reported a high case positivity and the Delta-driven second wave is still not over, warned VK Paul, who heads the government’s COVID task force. Eighteen districts showed an increasing trend in cases in the last four weeks, according to the government.

The testing capacity substantially ramped up after ICMR tested 18,47,518 infected in a single day. So far ICMR has tested 47.31 crore samples since the outbreak.

Under the national vaccination drive, 62,53,741 beneficiaries were immunized in the last 24 hours. So far 48.52 beneficiaries have been vaccinated.
