India vs Aus: Indian Team Missing ‘skill and character’ of M.S. Dhoni?
- India are missing a talent like MS Dhoni who never panics during a chase : Michael Holding
- In the opening ODI held in Australia, India looked fully out of sorts
Sports: The Virat Kohli-led Indian team did not get off to a good start in Australia. Playing the first ODI in Sydney against Aaron Finch’s men, India suffered a 66-run defeat. Indian Cricket Team faced backlashes from various social media spectrum.
In a YouTube chat show titled ‘Holding Nothing Back’, Michael Holding said – “It was always going to be difficult for India to chase that down. One thing India will struggle with is the loss of Mahendra Singh Dhoni”.
The 66-year-old further stated that India is missing the control and composure of Dhoni. M.S. Dhoni retired from international cricket in August this year.
Dhoni’s calmness served a lot in run-chases for team India. “We never see Dhoni panicking at any stage while India is chasing. He usually paces that chase so well because he knows his ability and he knows how to go about the chase.” – said the former pacer, adding, “Whoever is batting with him, he is always talking with them and helping them. Fantastic batting line-up, but MS Dhoni was a special man in the run chase.”
Holding, the former cricketer-turned-commentator also criticized India’s slipshod display during the match, saying, “India didn’t help themselves with their fielding. The SCG is a big ground but the boundary rope was still in from the extremes of the boundary.”
Kohli and his team missed a run-out opportunity, dropped 4 catches, apart from a number of lackadaisical fielding efforts.
