India witnessed its biggest hike in a single day; records 4200 covid_19 cases in last 24 hours
- The pandemic has expanded its footprints in the country, affecting more than 67,000 people
- Maharashtra remains to be the worst affected state with 22,171 cases alone
INDIA: The Ministry of Health reported that there has been a major surge in cases in the country since last week, with the highest spike of nearly 4,200 new infections recorded today. It also stated that there has been a significant increase in the recovery rate with 1,559 patients being cured in the last 24 hours. The present recovery rate in the country is approximately 31% while the death rate is around 3.3%. 97 fatalities were reported in the country taking the death toll to 2,207. There are 44,029 active patients whereas 20,917 patients have recovered till now.
On Sunday, India stood at eighth place with the number of active cases less than only 7 other nations of the world. Taking in consideration the massive population of India and the impossibility of a longer lockdown due to stress on the economy, the present situation demands strong strategy to combat the transmission of virus.
With no significant improvement the tally of top 10 states continue to rise :
|Sr.No.||States||Confirmed Cases||Active Cases||Deaths|
With more than 1900 new cases the total count of confirmed cases in Maharashtra has crossed 22,000 mark. There are 17,140 active patients in the state with nearly 832 fatalities reported till now. 53 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The death rate in the state is 3.7% , higher than the average death rate (3.28%) of the country.
The highest death rate of 9.5% has been reported by West Bengal followed by Gujarat with 6.0%. Madhya Pradesh with the third highest death toll recorded a death rate of 5.9% slightly lower than Gujarat. The state of Rajasthan where deaths shot up in the beginning, is presently at 2.8% death rate with no new deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients has declined in Uttar Pradesh with no new deaths. However, 94 new cases were reported in the state.
Similarly, no new case & death was reported in MP giving us hope of improvement.
Tamil Nadu jumped up at the third position replacing Delhi with 669 new cases taking total confirmed cases to 7,204. However, the death rate has remained lower in this state.
Some other states like Bihar & Odisha are seeing a surge in cases. 105 new cases were reported from Bihar in the last 24 hours. It is said that the rise is due to the migrant workers who have returned to their homes in the last few days. The total count is approaching 700 with 6 fatalities in the state.
Meanwhile, Odisha too reported 83 new cases taking the total count to 377 out of which 306 cases are active while 3 patients succumbed to the disease.
Tripura continues to add on the numbers. 16 new cases have led the count to 150 in the state. It is to be noted that the state was declared corona free a week ago. But the re-emergence of cases from smaller numbers rising to greater ones give us a lesson of not being careless even when no new cases are reported.
On the similar note, Kerala too has reported 7 new cases in the last 24 hours. However, with a good recovery rate in the state there are just 19 active cases.
