- Zydus Cadila to supply 1 crore doses of ZyCoV-D by December.
New Delhi: According to reports on Thursday, the Indian government will first introduce Cadila Healthcare Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D in seven states, including Maharashtra and West Bengal. By December, Zydus Cadila would have delivered 1 crore doses of ZyCoV-D to the Indian government. The Centre has placed an order for one crore doses of ZyCoV-D, the world’s first Plasmid DNA COVID-19 vaccine, at Rs 265 per dosage plus Rs 93 for the needle-free applicator, excluding GST.
The company developed ZyCoV-D, which is the first needle-free COVID-19 vaccine. It is administered using PharmaJet, a needle-free applicator that ensures painless intradermal vaccine delivery while also reducing major side effects. For at least three months, ZyCoV-D has shown good stability at temperatures around 25 degrees. The vaccine’s thermostability will make it easier to carry and store the vaccination without worrying about temperature fluctuations. A temperature of 2-8 degrees is suitable for long-term use. ZyCoV-D is also a DNA plasmid vaccine, therefore it doesn’t have any issues with vector-based immunity. The DNA Plasmid platform enables the rapid generation of novel structures in response to viral mutations.
