Indore Civic Body Polls: 2nd Phase on July 13th Counting scheduled on 17th July

- Urban Body polls to be held in two phases on July 6th and 13th
- Tough fight between Congress and BJP with AAP showing up for the first time
- First phase at 6th July was held across 2250 polling booths
Indore: The urban body election being held for the first time in seven years in Indore will go into its second phase of polling on July 13th. Post the second phase, results will be out on July 17th a Nehru Stadium. After counting of votes and declaration of results, 15 elected councillors of each Nagar Parishad will vote to elect a President from among them. 341 candidates are contesting for 85 posts of corporators.
EVMs of 2250 polling booths have been kept under tight security at their respective centres under police security and camera surveillance. The EVMs will be out for counting on the result day only, i.e. July 17th. State Election Commission is engaged in high-level preparations wherein 250 officials will be provided related training for the counting of votes. Meanwhile, State Election Commissioner Basant Pratap Singh said that 3296 booths have been declared as sensitive.
The key contenders for mayor are Congress’s Sanjay Shukla who is an MLA and BJP’s Pushyamitra Bhargava. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also stepped in this time with Kamal Gupta as its candidate.
