- An FIR was lodged against the lady by a Sikh Organization.
- Kangana was granted an ad-interim relief by HC.
Mumbai: Actress Kangana Ranaut was seen at Mumbai’s Khar Police Station on Thursday. The actress, however, was called on Wednesday to record a statement in connection to an FIR lodged against her for social media post that allegedly linked the farmer’s protest to a separatist group.
The lady was seen at the police station at around 11 AM today decked up in a saree and a pearl necklace. In presence of her lawyer Rizwan Siddique, the city police recorded her statement.
An FIR was filed against the Manikarnika fame by a Mumbai businessman Amarjeet Singh Sandhu last month claiming that her Instagram post portrayed the farmers protest on Delhi borders as a Khalistani Movement. Following this, a case was lodged under IPC Section 295-A for deliberately hurting the community’s religious sentiments and Sections 505 (2), 504, 506 (II), and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Sandhu had filed the complaint along with members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)
The HC later had issued a notice after Ranaut moved it to quash the FIR. The notice highlighted freedom of speech as a fundamental right based on which Kangana was granted ad-interim relief.
