Kannada Actor Ragini Dwivedi Arrested in Connection of Sandalwood drug scandal

Bengaluru: Kannada entertainer Ragini Dwivedi, whose house was searched on Friday morning for an examination concerning drug misuse, has been arrested, the police said. 

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) had served a notice to the entertainer on Wednesday, requesting that she be dismissed before them on Thursday, however she sent a group of lawyers looking for time till Monday.

In any case, the police attacked Ms Dwivedi’s home early today subsequent to getting a court order from a court and took her to the CCB office toward the evening to scrutinize her, an official said 

Later at night, in an announcement, Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil stated, “Ragini Dwivedi has been arrested and taken into custody.” 

In addition, the actor, two individuals named Rahul and Viren Khanna were arrested, he said. With this, four individuals have been captured for the situation. 

The police had before said captured one K Ravishankar, who includes joins inside the Kannada entertainment world, regarding the drugs case and a court has sent him to police custody for five days. 

As indicated by police, Viren Khanna is a major catch. “He (Khanna) is the fundamental individual who arranges large gatherings where drugs are devoured. He was in Delhi and two CCB police auditors had gone to Delhi and arrested him,” Mr Patil said. 

K Ravishankar, otherwise called Ravi, an agent in the Road Transport Office, was arrested on Thursday while Rahul, a real estate professional, was arrested on Friday, Bengaluru police official Kamal Pant said. 

The two went to top of the line parties habitually and acquired drugs from far off nationals, he stated, including that the two were vendors and shoppers. 

The actor was in close contact with Ravi, the police chief said. 

As per Mr Pant, police have begun the second degree of examination dependent on their disclosures and in like manner others have also been called for questioning. 

The CCB had heightened its examination concerning a drugs scandal in Bengaluru after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) captured three individuals from the city, who were purportedly providing drugs to vocalists and entertainers in the Kannada entertainment world. 

The scandal comes in the midst of claims of drug use encompassing the demise of Bollywood entertainer Sushant Singh Rajput in June. 

Ragini Dwivedi, whose family is from Haryana’s Rewari, was conceived in Bengaluru. She made her introduction in the film Veera Madakari in 2009. 


She shot to distinction for her job in KempeGowda, Ragini IPS, Bangari and Shiva.
