Lockdown extends in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district till June 5

Raigarh:  The Raigarh district administration has decided to extend the lockdown till 5th June in view to curb Covid-19 cases further, as there has been no significant drop in the active count of the district reported by the state health authorities. 

According to MoHFW, Raigad on Sunday recorded 131 new infections. The active count of the state stood at 3030. Cumulatively, Raigarh has detected 60,645 coronavirus infections since the outbreak.

Citing the rise in active counts of the district, the district collector announced to extend the lockdown for the second time. Earlier on May 16, the Chhattisgarh government had extended the lockdown until 31st May amidst the rising figures of the infection. As per the new orders, the containment zone is under lockdown until 5 June. 

Under the new guidelines the construction sector is permitted to function. All laborers are ordered to wear masks and maintain distance while working. Regular use of sanitizers and implementation of COVID norms is mandated.  Additionally, tarpaulin outlets are allowed to operate from 8 am -5 pm.

Overall, the state registered  9,69,300 COVID cases so far on Sunday with the addition of 1,665 cases, while the death toll stood at 13,016 witnessing 37 deaths in a single day, a health department official said. 

 The number of recoveries reached 9,17,023 after 5,271 people were discharged from hospitals while 90, 66,798 have been tested so far.
