Major Tourist Destination Thailand on Covid Radar Again; Records 201 New Cases
Bangkok: Thailand is one of the major tourist attractions for its high-end beaches and affordable touring options. But as soon as the covid-19 pandemic set in, major tourist destinations were shut as traveling was restricted. Now that the vaccine has arrived in India and in most other countries, the traveling restrictions have been lifted. Thailand, being one of the crowded countries, has reported almost 201 new covid cases in the last 24 hours.
Though its recovery rate is still showing positive signs, the new covid cases make way to fear amongst the country’s citizens. Around 185 domestic covid infections were reported and 16 infections were reported to be transferred from internationally traveled passengers. Mobile testing vans have been operating in major cities of Thailand where covid tests are carried out randomly.
To date, approximately 24000 confirmed covid cases have been reported in Thailand. While almost 20000 of them have recovered, some more are still fighting the virus in hospitals. Only 80 casualties have been reported by far in the country. Areas like Samut Sakhon province and Tank are more on the checklist of the Thai government for the spread of the infection.
