New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will hold a meeting with health ministers from all states and union territories on Thursday to discuss how to move forward with the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign, which aims to ensure that all adults who have not received their first dose of Covid vaccine or are overdue for their second dose are vaccinated. Official sources confirmed on Wednesday that the meeting would take place remotely in the morning. This follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with district magistrates and health authorities from over 45 districts across 12 states and union territories on November 3rd, where first-dose coverage was less than 50%.
According to health ministry officials, 79.2 per cent of India’s adult population has gotten at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination, and more than 37 per cent of the country’s 94 crore adult population has received both doses. Uttar Pradesh is the state that has administered the most doses, followed by Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
According to the sources, the health ministry has also written to numerous states and union territories, requesting that they prioritise providing the second dose to recipients who have not been vaccinated with the second injection despite the passage of time between the two doses. The government just launched the month-long ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign, which will provide house-to-house COVID-19 vaccination to individuals who have not yet received their first dose and those who have not yet received their second dose.
