New Delhi: The Supreme Court in what comes as a massive relief for suspended BJP Spokesperson Sharma on Friday refused to entertain a petition filed seeking the arrest and calling for an independent investigation of the former BJP spokesperson.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India UU Lalit expressed his disinclination to entertain the plea against Sharma while hearing the plea filed by a lawyer who also sought a detailed probe into Sharma’s alleged controversial remarks against the Prophet Muhammad. The plea contended that told petitioner Advocate Abu Sohel that his plea against Nupur Sharma looked innocuous but had far-reaching consequences. Sohel then withdrew his plea. The advocate sought an urgent hearing of the case alleging that no action has been taken against Sharma by the police despite the complaint.

It had sought immediate action against Sharma saying that her statements were violative of Articles 14, 15, 21, 26 and 29 of the Constitution and other fundamental rights.
