Medical Student Sexually Harasses 49-Year-Old Woman

Bengaluru: In a shocking incident that came to light, a medical student pursuing an orthopaedic has been held by the police for allegedly sexually harassing a 49-year-old woman and her daughter. The incident took place in the early hours of December 11th. The accused has been identified as Vijay Bharadwaj aged 28, who hails from Muzaffarnagar in Bihar. Vijay is a third-year student at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences and lives in the Banashankari area as a paying guest.
A complaint was filed by the woman with Amrutahalli police, based on which a case was registered against Vijay under section 354A, 345B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The woman said in her complaint that she was returning to her home from a function that was organized at Hoskote. Vijay allegedly started following their car, the woman said. The accused followed the car till Goraguntepalya junction, from where he fled after the woman’s son stopped the vehicle where two constables were standing.
According to the housewife, their car tyre went flat near Veerannanapalya junction around 2 AM. The housewife said that as their car’s tyre was punctured, her son was fixing it by parking the vehicle. The accused stopped his vehicle nearby and started harassing the woman, her daughter by using lewd language. The man also threatened and abused the family. The accused man’s vehicle followed the family, the woman said. The woman also said that the accused stopped his vehicle in front of their car and rammed from behind. They asked for help as soon as they saw two constables near Goraguntepalya junction, the woman added in her complaint. The accused had been on the run for two days. However, the police tracked him down and arrested him on Monday night.
